Summer in Säfsen is fantastic with hiking, mountain biking, swimming and playing in beautiful nature in southern Dalarna.
The proximity to everything means you can park your car if you want. Six minutes by car from the holiday village there is a well-stocked grocery store Coop Fredriksberg where we can also recommend the small cheese shop Ostkoja which has good local delicacies and Rosa höjdens caféwhich offers freshly baked bread seven days a week. In the village there is also the Säfsnäs local history association with fine older buildings in the Dala style. If you want to go on an excursion, we can recommend the White Guide-prized Vansbro konditori or Ludvika Gammelgård.
In the summer, it is walking distance from the cottage to the swimming area, which has a diving tower, jetty and shallow sandy beach. A little further away is the Wilderness Playground, which is a fun outing for the whole family.
If you want to experience marshland and ponds instead, it’s a shorter walk to Eldpallkojan, a very cozy little mirror-like pond with a barbecue area. Both places have barbecue areas where Säfsen provides firewood, so just start the grilling when your stomach rumbles, if the outdoor seating at Björnen or your own terrace doesn’t appeal.
There are many nice trails for hiking both in the forest and by the lake, or why not go up to the top of the ski slope for a view for miles? There are lots of blueberries in the forest and outside the cottage there are both raspberries and lingonberries to pick for dinner. There is a wide variety of cross-country trails for mountain biking MTB that are suitable for both beginners and advanced, families or enthusiasts.
In the summer, mini golf, frisbee golf and even bike rentals are offered here. You can also rent a canoe, kayak, SUP or cycle in the technical area. There are cycle paths for all categories. Many of the activities are free of charge for tenants.
